I am always on the lookout for interesting ideas, and there has been a number exciting collaborative curatorial projects that recently caught my attention. Much discussed online over the past few weeks after its launch on the 2nd April, Someone I Know combines a simple and effective idea with great photography from around the world. The project was curated by Stuart Pilkington, who invited ’emerging and emerged’ photographers to contributed a portrait of someone they know to an online gallery. The concept is based on the belief that, chasing the exotic, photographers often overlook those who are near them from day to day.
The collection of more than a hundred images is so inspiring, I’m off to take portraits of every member of my family right now, leaving you to enjoy few of my favorite portraits from the project:
