Cross-cultural Visual Dialogue

To commemorate the first anniversary of the annexation of Crimea, last week Everyday Eastern Europe took over EchoSight instagram account, presenting a series of montages made from images by Russian and Ukrainian photographers.

As always, for me, the response to the images said a lot more than the pictures could ever show, as the discussions the project prompted on various social media platforms demonstrated that the issues is as topical as ever and the cross-cultural dialogue is essential if the two nations are ever to make peace.

Huge thank you to participating photographers Alexey Furman and Sergei Ristenko from Ukraine and Lesya Polyakova and Mikhail Mordasov from Russia, as well as the EchoSight team Daniella and Danny!
